I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with my parents and wife. There is street parking with meters that take coins and card and also a valet (~$5) near the entrance (inside the valet parking lot, not facing the street). There was no wait but a decent crowd inside eating. Food is a la carte, not AYCE. We got a beef combo, an order of pork jowl, and the combo with different types of intestine. I think the intestine really stands out as the thing to order here. I prefer to let the intestines get crispy on your grill and especially liked the large intestine. It also comes with some mushrooms and potatoes and they will come and light the intestines on fire as they cook. The meal also ended with fried rice made on the grill in front of you which was delicious once you let the rice crisp up. The meat orders came with teo steamed eggs and two side stews and we got kimchi and soft tofu (I definitely preferred the soft tofu that I believe had a clam/seafood tasting broth which was amazing). The banchan was decent, I most liked the green onion banchan. Would return again if in the mood for intestine kbbq. Good vibes overall. This place had also been frequented by a lot of Korean/asian celebrities based on what my wife said if you're into that!

This is one of the more showy KBBQ spots which is great for those that love taking photos and videos. Apparently this place gets the hype from a lot of the kpop celebrities making visits here, but surprisingly, we were able to walk in with no wait at 5:30pm on a Sunday for a party of 7, and also spot lots of empty tables around. We got a bit of a lighter meal - a large Ahgassi combo with pork belly, and a small gopchang combo, both with soybean soup and steamed egg. The banchan here is a little weak, mostly salad and some green onions and kimchi. You can relax as the servers cook for you, unlike some KBBQ restaurants. The Ahgassi combo featured brisket, boneless short rib, pork steak, and pork belly (or pork jowl). The brisket is okay, a bit tough but lean. The boneless short rib is fairly juicy, and this one was cooked high up in flames for a showy presentation. The pork steak and pork belly took a bit longer to prepare, but quite delicious, not marinated so you should use the sauces and salt they provide for the table. If I go back, I would prefer just doing the beef combo. The gopchang combo is a good size, a bit heavy as expected given it is intestines, and they were precooked so only a little bit more cooking is needed to be ready to eat. This one has an even more impressive presentation. Afterwards, they make fried rice from the oil from the gopchang tableside, arranged neatly with seaweed in the middle. That is a great concluding dish. Both these combos amount to the right amount of food for a satisfying meal, if you are aiming for the more conservative estimate indicated on the menu (e.g., assuming 4 people for a 3-4 person portion for large combo). It was not expensive but not cheap, about $35 per person but easily more if you go with a smaller party and order more meats. Service is okay as the initial round of waters took a while and required follow-ups, but subsequent service is good.

11.06.2024 - Day trip with umma Decided to fly to SoCal from NorCal for some mom and daughter time. After getting facials and shopping, we needed to eat. With 2 hours to spare before our flight back to the East Bay, I was so glad that Ahgassi Gopchang was opened during midday. Designated parking lot didn't require any valet parking as it wasn't busy hours. However, valet parking seems to start around 4pm and it costs $4. Service is good. The waiters cook all the meats table side and we never felt like we had to wait around for our next order to be cooked. Ordered the gopchang combo. This came with a soup of your choice, egg soufflé, onions, potatoes and king trumpet mushrooms to grill, and fried rice at the end. Since this was our first and last meal of the day, we ordered 2 galbi, one marinated and one plain. Several side dishes accompanied our meal. My favorite was their aged kimchi. Perfectly fermented, it was sour and pungent. Wrapping a piece of galbi with raw garlic and jalapeños was a bite made in heaven. This kimchi got me going for multiple refills. I'd have to say, the plain galbi was my favorite. Very tender and extremely flavorful. Marinated galbi was my second favorite. Sadly, the gopchang was my least favorite. It should have been the star of the meal since it's part of their logo, but it didn't have a wow factor. The fried rice cooked in gopchang fat was another story though. Next time I'm in town, I'd definitely return for more galbi and kimchi. Make sure to come after 2pm as they offer happy hour from 2-4pm. Until next time.

I've been here three times and the first time was pretty good but the 2nd time was great so I'm rounding to the five star mark because I would definitely come back and recommend to friends. Known for their intestines but the quality of the other meat pieces are very good too. We always get the intestines here and it's never failed us. The fried rice they make at the end in the meat oil is chef's kiss too. We also like the beef tongue and rib fingers here! Servers are running all over the place depending on busy but generally, they are watching out for your meat cooking process and do it for you. This most recent 3rd time was still good, but only thing lacking for the staff attentiveness for cooking. So this can be a hit or miss. Good banchan selection and ingredients are always fresh!
